Data is more than just numbers on a page. When combined with design we suddenly have the power to connect, engage and ultimately transform our data into decisions. In this session, our speakers will share their practical tips to help you incorporate design into all stages of your workflow to help shape your data story. While our examples are focused on applying design to Power BI projects; these principles are applicable to any technology – no matter what your canvas is!
Alice Drummond, Co-founder of Discover EI and Microsoft Data Platform MVP, will begin by sharing her top 5 design tips, and transform a dull and confusing report into a work of art in a matter of minutes! You’ll learn how to combine your data with images, icons, GIFs, layouts, colours and themes to communicate your key insights at a glance, and create engaging and intuitive Power BI reports. Alice's passion is combining Power BI with graphic design and computer animations to bring environmental data to life!
Stefanie Weedon, Analytics Project Manager at Newcrest Mining, will then share experiences from a Corporate BI reporting perspective, how important it is to deliver meaningful reports which align with the corporate brand (i.e. to promote familiarity, trust and ownership) and the role of governance that guides our teams to consistently delivery high quality analytics. Stef is super passionate about connecting business users with Power BI so they can realise the value in their data.
And finally, Abby Kong, Dynamics 365 Specialist at Blackmores Group, will show us some report design principals and tools to help to make your reports accessible by as many users as possible, including users with disabilities. You will see in action on a demo report of Abby applying these principals, and using Power BI built-in accessibility features. This session is for you if you are creating public reports or private reports with a large audience! Abby is a true Power BI enthusiast.
We look forward to seeing you there!
